Practice Makes Perfect
Completing a basic pistol class is the crucial first step in responsible firearm ownership.
But it is also important to emphasize the importance of regular training to maintain and enhance the skills you've acquired.
As the saying goes, "Practice makes perfect," and when it comes to firearm handling, practice is the key to staying proficient and confident in your abilities.

Here are some ways you can keep up with your training:
1. Get to the gun range on a regular basis
- Your regular basis may be once a week, once a month or twice a month. Whatever your schedule, this hands-on training is crucial to developing and maintaining your shooting skills.
- Focus on accuracy and consistency during live fire exercises. Put your targets at varying distances to challenge yourself and build confidence.
- Pay special attention to your trigger pull, grip, and stance.
2. Set a time for dry fire practice
- This can be done at home using an empty firearm, ensuring that all live ammunition is safely stored away.
- Use dry fire sessions to reinforce safe firearm handling practices, such as loading and unloading the magazine, locking the slide back, and maintaining a safe direction.
- Pay special attention to your trigger pull during dry fire exercises. This helps refine your technique and control over the firearm.
- Use a laser or use laser system (like Mantis or Strikeman) to help you with accuracy
3. Take a Refresher Courses
- If it's been a while since your last practice, consider taking a refresher course. This class will reinforce your foundational skills.
- Refresher courses also provide an excellent opportunity for one-on-one training and focusing on the issues most relevant to you
.
Remember, firearm proficiency is an ongoing journey, not a destination. Regular training is the key to maintaining your skills and ensuring the safety of yourself and those around you.
